UUID Generator tool

About this tool

A UUID generator creates identifiers in random version 4 or time-ordered version 7 form. Generate one value for a quick placeholder or as many as 1,000 for fixtures, imports, and database records. Version 7 follows RFC 9562 and sorts by creation time, while version 4 is based on random data.

Generation happens in your browser with its cryptographically secure random generator, so UUIDs are never uploaded or stored after the tab closes. You can remove hyphens, switch letters to uppercase, copy the complete batch, or download a text file. The validator also identifies the version of a valid UUID you paste.

How to use the UUID Generator

  1. 1Choose UUID v4 for random values or v7 for time ordering.
  2. 2Enter a batch quantity from one through one thousand.
  3. 3Turn uppercase letters or no-hyphen formatting on if required.
  4. 4Generate the identifiers and validate any value you want to check.
  5. 5Copy all UUIDs or download the batch as a text file.

Features

Random v4 generation

Create version 4 identifiers using cryptographically secure random values from the browser.

Monotonic v7 ordering

Produce RFC 9562 version 7 values that sort according to creation time.

Thousand-item batches

Generate from one to one thousand UUIDs in a single operation.

Version-aware validation

Check UUID syntax and learn which supported version a pasted identifier uses.

Flexible UUID formatting

Choose uppercase output, remove hyphens, copy the batch, or save plain text.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between UUID v4 and v7?

Version 4 is random. Version 7 includes a time-based portion defined by RFC 9562, so newly created values sort by creation time.

Is UUID v7 useful for database keys?

It can be useful when you want UUID-shaped keys whose order follows creation time. That ordering differs from the fully random placement of v4.

How many UUIDs can I make at once?

You can generate any quantity from 1 through 1,000, then copy the set or download it as a .txt file.

Does removing UUID hyphens change its version?

No. Removing separators changes only the displayed form. The underlying hexadecimal value and version bits remain the same.

Are generated UUIDs sent anywhere?

No. Your browser generates them locally with a cryptographically secure random source and does not save them after the tab closes.
